How do I choose a therapist?
It is important that you find a therapist you feel comfortable with. I encourage you to reach out to a few therapists before making a decision.
What is your approach?
Initially we will concentrate on building a strong and trusting therapeutic relationship before we explore your goals in more depth, look at pathways to achieve them and understand potential obstacles. I believe that each person is unique in the way that they experience life with all its dilemmas, conflicts, traumas, contradictions, and aspirations. These may encompass general daily anxieties or complex and difficult situations. I will therefore try to understand your particular experiences from your perspective. We are all shaped by past experiences, which can often affect our present experiences. Together we might explore these patterns that you have developed in the past to ensure safety and look at how they are part of your life today. This includes how your wider context – your family, community and broader socio-political factors – might have shaped your life.
How many sessions will I need?
We will usually begin with 8 sessions to build a strong and trusting therapeutic relationship. Afterwards, we will review your progress and decide together whether to continue or conclude based on your needs and goals.
How long are the sessions?
Sessions are 50 minutes long. I offer sessions on weekday mornings, during the day and in the early evening.
Are sessions confidential?
Everything you say is confidential. The exceptions are situations in which I am concerned that you may pose a risk to yourself or someone else, or when disclosure is required by law. If this becomes necessary, I will try to discuss it with you first.
How much are the sessions?
My fee is £70 per session for individuals.
I offer a limited number of low-cost places for people on low incomes.
I do not accept clients through private medical insurance at this point.
Where do you practise?
I offer in-person sessions in Leyton, East London and online via Zoom.
